3 Reasons Dental Implants are Worth the Investment

Benefits of Dental ImplantsLosing a tooth is never fun. And whether it falls out due to tooth decay, gum disease, stress, or an accident, replacing it with an implant is definitely worth the time and money. Here’s why:

1. Dental Implants Affect the Way You Look

Not only does a missing tooth change the shape of your face, but in a 2008 study, researchers found that people with missing teeth were perceived to be less healthy, attractive, educated or trustworthy. Ouch. A great smile, on the other hand, makes a person seem smarter, sexier and more confident. It’s hard to be confident about your smile when you’re missing a tooth, so if you want to make a great first impression with a potential mate, a potential employer or even potential neighbor, replacing your missing tooth is a must.

2. You Can Go Back to Eating What You Love

A missing tooth could be a killer for your social-life, but it could also kill your enjoyment of the crunchy foods you love. Depending on where the missing tooth or teeth are located, it might make it significantly harder to chew nuts, apples, carrots, chips, and hard candy — although candy is not recommended if you want to maintain good oral health anyway. But it would still be nice to know that at least once in a while, you might be able to enjoy a Jolly Rancher. If you’re not ready to give up on some of the foods you love, an implant is a solid investment in being able to enjoy your diet.

3. Dental Implants Last a Lifetime

Made of a titanium screw that is surgically implanted into the jaw, it fuses with your own bone to create a solid anchor for a crown, bridge, full or partial denture. The failure rate is less than 5%, so chances are once you get your implant, it will last for the rest of your life. In fact, chances are that your implant will outlast the rest of your natural teeth!

Implants may not be cheap, but having to give up some of the foods you love, not to mention being perceived in a negative light, the alternative is just too costly in other ways!
